Public Disclosure etc. on Matters relating Personal Information (April 16th, 2013 version) *Previous version

The "Act on the Protection of Personal Information" (hereinafter "the Act"), with regard to personal information that is obtained by the Company, prescribes the statutory matters, such as the purpose of use, that should be published or made (easily) accessible to the individual. For your review, the Company will publish this information as required by the Act (the terms and their meanings used herein are the same as those used in the Sony Group Privacy Policy).

1. Purpose of use of personal information (related to Article 18 Paragraph 1 of the Act)

The purpose of use of personal information obtained by the Company is as follows:

  • (1) Purpose of use listed below from i. to iv., pertaining to the following a. and b.
    • a. Electronic products and components for medical practice
    • b. Online services, such as for information provision, through the Internet or Web sites for mobile phone terminals
    • i. Sales of products and provision of services (including technologies and software licenses)
    • ii. Advertising and promotional activities (The Company may introduce you to products, services, exhibitions, and other events by means of e-mails, direct mails, etc.)
    • iii. After-sale services and other customer support (including use for registration, identity verification, emergency contact, etc.)
    • iv. Reference for future product development and marketing activities
  • (2) Communication and delivery of documents to shareholders and other stakeholders

If the Company has explicitly stated the individual purpose of use upon collecting personal information and has notified the relevant individual or had obtained the relevant individual’s consent, please note that the explicitly stated purpose of use, etc. shall be applied to that specific personal information.

2. Matters pertaining to retained personal data (Related to Article 24 Paragraph 1 of the Act)

The following are the matters pertaining to the retained personal data and handled by the Company:

    • iv. Reference for future product development and marketing activities
  • II. Communication and dispatch of documents to shareholders and other stakeholders
(3) Procedures for responding to requests for disclosure, etc.
: For inquiries about notifications of the purpose of use (Related to Article 24 Paragraph 2 of the Act), disclosure (Related to Article 25 Paragraph 1 of the Act), correction etc. (Related to Article 26 Paragraph 1 of the Act), cessation of use etc. (Related to Article 27 Paragraph 1 of the Act), and the cessation of third party provision (Related to Article 27 Paragraph 2 of the Act) of retained personal data retained by the Company (hereinafter collectively referred to as "requests for disclosure, etc."), please make your request to the relevant contact point according to the type of your request. The details of the procedure are available in “Procedures for responding to requests for disclosure, etc. of retained personal data.”

3. Matters pertaining to the opt-out scheme for the provision to a third-party (Related to Article 23 Paragraph 2 of the Act):

With respect to personal data intended to be provided to a third party, Article 23 Paragraph 2 of the Act sets forth that, where a business operator handling personal information agrees to discontinue, at the request of a person, the provision of such personal data as will lead to the identification of the person, and where the business operator, in advance, put certain matters in a readily accessible condition for the person, the business operator may provide such personal data to a third party (opt-out scheme). The Company does not use the opt-out scheme to provide personal information to any third party without the awareness of the relevant individual.

If the Company otherwise individually indicated the purpose of use, etc. by means of notification to the relevant individual or agreement to the terms of use, etc., the content of the said individually indicated purpose of use, etc. will supersede the above description.
